Zoom – The Chosen – Episode 5

Friday, Jan. 1 at 7:00

This episode has Jesus & His followers at the wedding in Cana where He turns water into wine. We’re introduced to disciple Thomas & we get to join Jesus & Co as they get to know each other better while enjoying the wedding celebrations! Another fun episode!

These are the Bible passages episode 5 refers to:

Luke 2:39-52 – Jesus in His Father's house at age 12
John 1:19-28 – Make straight the way of the Lord
John 2:1-11 – Water into Wine
Psalm 149:3 – Let them praise His name with the dance.

Things you can (but don’t need to) think about while watching:

In this episode, we see Andrew & Simon in another one of their brotherly discussions, anticipating their newly begun adventure as Jesus' followers.
In moments when you're just about to jump into something new, do you often feel nervous & unsure & hesitant like Andrew mentioned he was?
Or, at times, might you be more like Simon described himself, & in your nervous excitement, possibly come on a bit strong?
The word “new” gets used a lot in episode 5.
Right now, today, what is going through your mind when you read/hear the word “new”?
(oh, & by the way, if you are reading this on Friday, “Happy New Year!!”)

What kinds of things do you think Jesus did at the Cana wedding? (besides turning water into wine)
Do you think Jesus really did dance at the Cana wedding?

The same repeat questions again:
What does Jesus like?
Who does He like to be with?

Episode 5, in my opinion, is jam-packed with wonderful quotes (the writing is so absolutely amazing in this show). Here are a few of them:

“We will watch Him ... & watch & watch & watch. Forever, I think.”

“From the directions You have provided, I see no logical solution to the problem.”
“It's going to be like that sometimes, Thomas.
Join Me, & I will show you a new way to count & measure.”
“Go with You, where? I don't understand.”
“Keep watching!”

“Is something wrong?”
“Yes – I was.”

“Who is He? I can't pretend I didn't see a miracle. He gave us even more than we needed.”

This is a quote I have taped to my kitchen wall:

“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain!”

Dance– Jesus Culture

You spin over me
& You are pleased
when i spend myself on You

my heart is full of joy
i will dance for You

dance dance
let the Spirit move you
dance dance
Holy Spirit in you

New Wine (Thomas’ song) – Hillsong

i yield to You into Your careful hand
when i trust You i don't need to understand
i came here with nothing
but all You have given me
Jesus, bring new wine out of me

cause where there is new wine
there is new power
there is new freedom
& the Kingdom is here
i lay down my old flames
to carry Your new fire today
